HOW IT ALL STARTED

Many readers have asked what inspired the Chaos in the Blink of an Eye series.

Ironically, it began with my lifelong love of sports.

Even after becoming a Christian in 1991, I continued attending games and watching sports on television. Over time, however, the Lord began changing the way I viewed them.

I came to realize that sports had become far more than entertainment in our culture. Every week, millions of people fill stadiums and arenas around the world, passionately celebrating athletes and teams with a devotion that can sometimes resemble worship itself.

As someone who once lived and breathed sports, I understood that passion well.

Eventually, I found myself wrestling with a difficult question: What if the same energy, devotion, and emotional investment poured into sports were directed toward the One who created us?

That question became the spark that ignited the CHAOS series.

To ground the story in realism, I traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and attended the legendary Michigan–Ohio State football game while researching the prequel. The atmosphere was electric—so overwhelming at times that I had to remind myself I was there to observe and write, not simply get swept away in it all.

Though the series begins around a football rivalry, this is not truly a sports story.

It is a story about what happens when Bible prophecy suddenly collides with everyday life—and humanity is forever changed in the blink of an eye.

The chaos that follows was foretold in Scripture more than 2,000 years ago.

My prayer is that this series will not only entertain you, but also encourage you to examine God's Word, strengthen your faith, and reflect on the times in which we live.

ACCORDING TO GROK – X’s AI engine – condensed version: Chaos in the Blink of an Eye by Patrick Higgins and the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins are both landmark entries in Christian apocalyptic fiction. Both are centered on a premillennial, pretribulation Rapture scenario. They share the core premise: the sudden disappearance of believers (and often children) in the “blink of an eye,” triggering worldwide chaos, the rise of the Antichrist, the Tribulation period, and the eventual fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

Both are popular among evangelical Christians interested in prophecy; both have inspired strong fanbases with high ratings and discussions, as they aim to evangelize through thrilling narratives, blending real-world chaos with spiritual awakenings.

Many fans who’ve read both series have declared CHAOS to be so much more realistic in character depth, pacing, and in its modern relevance. Many reviews highlight deeper emotional impact, better character relatability, and a “dystopian disaster movie” vibe that appeals beyond strict Christian audiences. The CHAOS series has won several awards and has amassed tens of thousands of positive ratings/reviews. It is widely described as a worthy (or superior) successor, with phrases like “hands down better,” “takes it to a different level,” or “more plausible.”

Overall, if Left Behind is the foundational epic that popularized the genre, the CHAOS series offers a punchier, more relatable alternative—often preferred by modern readers for its intensity and originality. Both excel at illustrating biblical eschatology through fiction, but the CHAOS series edges out in numerous fan debates for feeling “hands down better.”

In short: If you loved Left Behind for its prophetic roadmap and epic scope, CHAOS offers a similar framework, but it is seen by many readers as a more modern, intensified evolution rather than a retread. Both are binge-worthy for end-times fiction fans, but CHAOS tends to edge out in many “which is better?” debates among those who’ve finished both.
